Hedge Whacking Trio

On Saturday morning Corey and Arron came out with hedge whacking on their mind. In little under 3 hours we accomplished more then we have done in 4 months. Since about September last year I had been using Franks chipper to put about one plant a month into the yard waste container. Frank needed his chipper back so I took to cutting the hedge small enough to fit in the curb container. Last week I broke my dads trusty chain saw I bought in 1982. Corey must have felt the pain of the loss. He took to the hedge with our bow saw I had bought for service work on the trails. He cut down and stacked 1/3 of out hedge. When I saw is awesome progress I had Arron hitch his Jeep to the kayak trailer and experience his first trailer backing lesson... he did great too. We cut and stacked and loaded and tied hedge until I was silly with hunger. Once it was all stacked we headed to Bailey's Compost in Snohomish. This is a great place the neighbor told me about. They showed us were to unload and while I paid the kids unloaded half the load. WOW! I looked at the garden compost and know I will be buying my spring dirt there. Great place to go if you are in the need for compost.

Green Lake Speed Walkers - Watch-Out!

Julia continues to amaze us. Saturday she met Doreen and Larisa at Green Lake and took her first lap around the lake since surgery. While walking along the trail, she felt Goooooood. Do you know what she was talking about? - Boots, hiking boots to be specific! Watch out Mt. Rainier she is on a roll, can you spell summit? Well maybe not, but we are definitely going to go hiking in the spring flowers by Paradise this year.

Has anyone heard the radio advertisement about you Green Lake speed walkers?

Yea, me too... :)

Vegas and Back

Last week we traveled to Las Vegas for a quick escape. Mom and Dad picked us up at the airport and drove us back to their Oasis. For the next two nights we dined at a great buffet and took in a show. We stayed at the Planet Hollywood Casino. The photos hardly do the room justice. Our little room with a view was fantastic. We rode the NY NY Roller Coaster and toured the M & M Shop. The third day came way too quickly. Not wanting to waste a moment, we drove out to Red Rock Canyon and enjoyed the sun and colored rocks until the time Julia was to be at the airport. Then we dashed to the airport, and I left her standing at the departures curb. I hate that about our airports now. Hours later she flew home as planned while I drove south on I-15 to meet up with the parents and drive back to Seattle. To live in Seattle you need to really love it. The weather everywhere was sunny and warm until Tacoma - here the roads were getting wet and by the time we got to Seattle, it was truly raining. Yeah Seattle, it is good to be home. More photos are posted at the web site.

Arron's new coat

Arron remains focused on his running and continues his 3rd year of running with Snoho Hi. His letter coat finally came in and he proudly tried in on in the store before hiding it in the back seat. It took some serious persuasion to obtain this brief public viewing which I captured in picture form to share with the world.

Cabella's Experiance

Last weekend we drove to the new Cabella's in Lacey. At the end of this rewarding drive and a Grande coffee I was excited to find the bathrooms were just off the parking lot. They also had a nice fish tank and some of the deer have fallen over on the rocks... maybe that is the way they are intended to look? They had nice chairs and cool camouflage bedding too. I thought there were fresh chocolate chip cookies cooking but to my sup rise it was roasted almonds... hmmmm ... Cabella's is a fun experience, plays to the hunter and fishing types so I still prefer the local REI for my camping and hiking desires.

It is time to drive

I am feeling the need for a road trip. Thankfully Mom and Dad are providing my the opportunity to drive once again ... Heading south to help drive home from Snow Bird Country... But first a stop in Las Vegas to catch a show. Counting the days 7, 6, 5.....

Spring is in the air...

Yes! The sun is shinning the grass is growing, the bulbs are pushing their way out of the dirt once again. I love the flowering seasons and soon I shall be all nuts about my flowers again. It has been a long dark winter. Fog in the valley and blue sky out the window this will be a good summer.

New Arbor Snow Board

I have received an early St. Valentine's, President's Day, lunar eclipse, Daylight Savings Day, Palm Sunday, St. Patricks Day and an early Birthday Gift. Several special people in my life got together and conspired to bestow on me a great gift. I have slipped off to the mountain several times with Corey's beautiful Arbor Snow Board and for the most part he was a great sport and never got too upset his dad would abuse it for an afternoon. Now I can proudly ride on my very own Arbor snow baord. Thank You very much to everyone that made this happen. Love you all.

Century Party

Craig and I have counted the days between our birthdays and found 102 days. 51 days after his birthday is Feb 1, 51 days before my birthday is Feb 2. We conclude that we should have our Century Party on the evening of Feb 1 to celebrate 100 years of good living and friendship. Plans are now in motion to make this an evening to remember for another 50 years.
