Winter 1972

Where were you in 72?

New fandangled computers

Why when they mess up do they get so hard to fix? I think this little clip explains a lot to me. I am feeling for Kim as she attempts to relocate her lost files.

First family trip of the season

December 16Th we broke the ice and hit the slopes. Corey had been on the slop once just to practice with his friends the week before while we were working and schooling. Today was the officially recognized opening of ski season for the family. The snow was good and the four of us had a great time. We actually stayed on the slopes longer then I expected and had to hurry to make dinner before they locked the doors, and yes the food was delicious after a day of skiing. Note to self, Arron will need a new board, and pants since he has out grown his old equipment.

TWiStEd NiGhT OuT

It was Bob Rivers 7th annual Twisted Christmas. The night was cold and the streets were wet. Craig was 50 and he was still adjusting to his new age, the birthday not a full day ago. Northerners met Southerners near the ferocious elevator surrounded by cold cement basement walls of the parking garage. The sky was dark but little did we know as we made our way to the Union Square Grill across court yard patios and back balcony walkways. Lost in the growing crowd our name was missing from the special guest list. Recognizing the seriousness of the error, Craig in his 50th year of freshness, and the scarcity of other hungry patrons we were seated almost immediately. Dinner was a delicious affair, scallops, crab bisque and seafood fettuccine. A short time later gifts were exchanged and hats were worn. Later we strolled through town finding ourselves amidst a lively crowd of show bound attendees, passing through the door we enjoyed the spirited crowd in the lobby until it was time to take our seats and enjoy the show. Music filled our ears during the first half with a superb mix of local talent including my favorite Alan White. Comedy topped off this great evening and left us with a smile on our face. Christmas has officially begun.

In 1969 Alan White received a call from John Lennon (he thought it was a prankster) asking him to join the Plastic Ono Band for a show that became the hit album, Live Peace in Toronto. He also performed with Lennon on the legendary Imagine album and the single, "Instant Karma". When Lennon introduced White to fellow Beatle alumnus, George Harrison, he was asked to perform on the All Things Must Pass album, including the single, "My Sweet Lord". In 1972, White was touring with Joe Cocker when he received an invitation to join Yes, to replace Bill Bruford who had left to join King Crimson. Three days after meeting with Jon Anderson and Chris Squire, White played at the first show of the group's US Close to the Edge tour. Despite the fact that White had spent time in the studio with the band and even tried playing some of the Close to the Edge material, it is something of a legend that he learned the entire repertoire of extremely complex music in just three days. White and the band gave each other three months to see if he fit in, and over thirty years later, he has appeared on every Yes album since. Alan White released his only solo album, Ramshackled, in 1976. However, it is usually considered a White solo album in name only, as everything except the drumming (and including all the songwriting) is done by the various musicians White gathered to help with the project. In addition to his drum playing, White has played piano and written music for several Yes albums.(Stolen from Wikipedia)

16 Days until Christmas - lets go shopping :)

HO HO HO Merry its begining to look like Christmas. Yep the malls are full, the lights are twinkling on all the homes, ski resorts are opening and everyone in town is so happy. I am making a list and checking it twice. Speaking of lists... none have arrived on my lap. Hmmm maybe Arron will like a mind challenging game, when I ask he says NO! but I think he is just playing and deep down he really likes the idea. Corey all he talks about the truck, maybe he would like some cool books for next quarter classes?

Pumpkin pancakes

Thanksgiving morning began with a delicious pumpkin or coconut pancake cooked up by the Walter. Many of the gang were there and it was great to reconnect with everyone. After the filling pancakes we needed to make room for turkey dinner so off to Green Lake for a quick refreshing walk around the lake. Kids might have thought I had lost my mind. Walking when we could have been playing video games ... what was I thinking?

What more can be said than JKK's aptly put words - Cougar domination. I like that... Snow

From a sweet little girl to Cougar mania.

Yes she attended the 100th Apple cup with the family and will not let anyone forget she is a Cougar. After a lengthy tailgate session the game was worth the wait. No, this is not her painted but it is what she might look like if the paint had not been hidden.

Clear,,,,,Day after giving thanks

Friday I received an unexpected call. Craig was craving a Buzz Inn Burger. I agreed to meet him at Harvey Field where we could both bring the total holiday cholesterol intake to euphoric levels.

Hungry from that morning after Thanksgiving empty tummy feeling, I abandoned my shopping cart in Costco and headed north for lunch. After lunch with our bellies full I gave in and went flying....
We did the logical stuff; we flew over my house and took pictures. Had I ever flown over my current house? I will ponder this but can not remember a time or find any photos. While taking photos I opened the window and leaned on the door to get that perfect shot. To my surprise the door is more a visual comfort then functional security, after shutting the door a couple times I completed my photo shoot of the house. We turned our tail to the house and flew over the valleys of Duvall, Carnation and Fall City before heading over the hills of Issaquah, Cedar Hills, Fairwood and Kent, landing in Covington at Crest Air Field. As planned, after the usual airport tinkering and visiting with other plane owners, Craig and I simply drove back over our route to return me to my car. As for Costco, I think I will head there before the Apple Cup.

Time Flys

Wow - over a month since I visited. Let me see...

Corey has put his truck on the road at last. This was just in time for Arron's heater core to spring a leak. Took forever to tear the dash out of the 85 jeep and fix the little dribbler. While I had the dash out I pulled the dash guages to trace the short in the insturment lights, seemed Arron wanted to be able to see his speedometer in the dark. Got the dash wire fixed. It had broken from old age. Now the battery voltage meter has stopped, likely another broken wire.

Drove to Arlington to watch My cousin getting Married ... nice slide show too...

Drove over the new Narrows Bridge

and went for a walk through beautiful fall colors, long since blown away by the November winds. Bumped into good friends doing the same.

Been a rather fast moving time of the year.
Soon I will take a few days to cool my heals.

Two Pumpkins of joy...

Halloween came and went so quiet this year. This weekend in Shohomish we toured the pumpkins of the town. Most were found gathered for a Sunday night meet and greet at the gazebo, I watched as JMH picked her favorite pumpkin.
